Our Pediatric Providers
2019 & 2020
Catherine Phillips, D.O., FAAP, CLC
Dr. Phillips is a board-certified pediatrician and certified lactation counselor, specializing in general pediatric care of infants, children, and teens in Oxford and surrounding areas.
She brings 10 years of pediatric experience into the exam room, practicing the most up-to-date, evidence-based medicine of our decade. She combines her experience as a pediatrician and as a mom herself into account, treating each child like she would her own.
D. Brooke Underwood, C-PNP

Brooke received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Mississippi University for Women in 2009 and her Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2017.
Brooke specializes in newborn care and breastfeeding medicine with over a decade of experience, most in collaboration with International Board Certified Lactation Consultants at North Mississippi Medical Center Women’s Hospital, one of the largest rural birthing centers in the country. She brings inpatient experience caring for hospitalized pediatric patients, postpartum Mother/Baby diads, and NICU step down infants. She has three years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in the outpatient setting, having worked alongside Dr. Phillips since moving to Oxford. She enjoys providing a medical home to local children and looks forward to many more!
Brooke lives in Oxford with her husband, Jonathan, a private music instructor, and their daughter Cora. Two fur babies, Liza Jane and Bubbles, call her “Mom” too!
Hannah Thompson, LPN
I am a happy mama to my boys Rowan and Eli. I have a decade’s experience as a nurse, seven of which have been in a pediatric setting. Growing up I always knew two things. I wanted to help take care of people, and I wanted to be a mother. That led me to my calling— helping to take care of your sweet babies at Phillips Pediatrics. I’m so excited to work with an incredibly loving team of people
Claire Jones, LPN
I knew as a teenager that Pediatric Nursing was my calling. It’s even where I landed on my career aptitude and personality test in high school. I love taking care of children, and I love being a nurse. I also love being a wife and a mama to my sweet four year old Avery Claire. As fate would have it, I met Dr. Phillips in the well-baby nursery 2 days after Avery was born. I knew at that moment that we had found our pediatrician, and ironically, I became her pediatric nurse that same year. We work as a team, encouraging and challenging each other daily to make sure we provide the best pediatric care to your babies.
Our Mental Health Team
Joy McCalla, LCSW
Our pediatrician, Dr. Phillips, and our counselor, Joy McCalla, work together at Phillips Pediatrics to coordinate mental health care for our patients. The two are excited to provide comprehensive mental healthcare in the comfort of your pediatrician’s office.
Dr. Phillips has a passion to care for the whole-child. She furthered her mental healthcare training through the REACH Institute to provide up-to-date, evidence-based mental healthcare in pediatric primary care. She works closely with local and regional psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors, and developmental and autism centers when referrals are needed.
Joy McCalla is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who brings years of counseling experience to our team. She specializes in individual and family therapy. She also provides parenting sessions for behavior problems in children under the age of 4. Joy not only works closely with families to improve relationships but also with schools when your child needs an advocate for IEP services. This comprehensive counseling approach helps improve the emotional, educational, and psycho-social well being of our patients and their families
